Review: Midnight Revenge by Elle Kennedy! @ElleKennedy

From the USA Today bestselling author of Midnight Captive, the latest Killer Instincts novel is “off-the-charts-hot”* romantic suspense that takes readers into the heart of an enigmatic mercenary…
Out of all the stone-cold mercenaries in Jim Morgan’s black ops organization, Derek “D” Pratt is the most intimidating. He is tight-lipped and covered in tattoos, and even the other guys on his team are afraid to ask him about his past. D’s been off the grid for years, but after his teammate Sullivan is mistakenly captured in his place, D is forced to come out of hiding and face his demons.
When D lands in Mexico, he’s ready to risk everything to save his friend. To complicate matters, Sofia Amaro, a feisty doctor whom D had a one-night stand with months ago, has tracked him down. And in an instant she’s unintentionally caught up in his life-threatening rescue mission.
Now D must extract not one but two people from the most violent world he’s ever encountered. And one of them is carrying his child…

Brandi’s 5 star review

Derek “D” Pratt is the cold-hearted mercenary on Jim Morgan’s team. Through the first six books we’ve seen countless times how closed off and calculating D could be and I could not wait to get his story. So many questions surround his character, the main one being what caused this man to become so detached.

Midnight Revenge was everything I anticipated. Mysteries to D’s past are brought to light and we get to see a softer side to this bad-ass merc. Now, it’s not hearts and flowers because come on…its D but Sophia does bring out what’s hidden behind the stone-faced killer. Once he allows himself to open up, I actually felt pity for this man. However, romance was not the only focus to this storyline. One of the team member’s is missing and D has a suspension it’s his past catching up to him.

I’m obsessed with this series and Midnight Revenge was another addictive installment! Jim and Noelle still hold my “most loved” title but D and Sophia are a close second. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
